Gregg Smith is a veteran tax expert and tenured financial advisor.
Clients seek his advice when navigating the complex world of finance and tax code.
Gregg graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1975 with a B.S. in accounting and continued his education toward a masters in tax, while beginning his financial services career with the international accounting and consulting firm of Ernst & Ernst (now Ernst and Young).
Gregg continued his interest in financial planning, and was asked by the American Institute of CPA’s (AICPA) to serve on a task force to create and edit CPA/PFS exam questions.
Gregg’s experience with helping clients understand and respond to tax issues is second to none. His understanding of more than 74,000 pages of the Federal Tax Code, or navigating the California Tax Code (and the thirteen pages that determine “residency” alone) – allows for detailed advice.
Gregg resides north of the Golden Gate with his wife of 42 years. He has two daughters who live in NYC. You can imagine how meaningful frequent flyer miles are. Gregg was born and raised in the inter-mountain states of Idaho and Wyoming and has always had a fondness for the mountain-scape. Gregg treks daily in the hills around the San Francisco Bay area and appreciates the lack of snowfall compared to his childhood home.
Gregg is an unconventional scholar, yet an avid student of philosophy – at a moment’s notice he will gladly entertain a discussion of the human condition, as odd as it is.
Gregg plans to celebrate his 80th birthday (many years from now) by making at least one run down KT-22.
